experiential jewish education workshops:

Workshops are designed for children, families, or young adults and might not necessarily be suitable for all ages/audiences. Most workshops are between 1-2 hours and can be customized to different group sizes and refined to match participant learning objectives.

I believe that Jewish education should

  • activate collective Jewish wisdom

  • inspire action of responsibility for others

  • question everything

Here is a sample of workshops I have developed:

  • Creation always comes from a sense of brokenness. Nothing begins with a sense of completion. According to Kabbalah, even the creation of the world began with an act of breaking, when the primordial vessel was not able to contain divine light and shattered casting light into the universe. It is with this idea, that participants in this workshop will destroy in order to create anew. After shattering plates into small pieces, participants will work together to transform the broken pieces into a beautiful collaborative mosaic. As each group builds upon the previous groups' work, participants will reflect on what does it mean to continue someone else's artwork, what responsibility do they have to the previous creators and to the future creators.During these broken times, participants will be able to release their frustration though the intentional, jarring, act of breaking, and then refocus on the slow meditative act of creating together.

  • What does it mean to be a mensch? Can we learn how to be a mensch from animals? Visit the zoo and find out!

We’ll learn about Jewish middot (virtues) and engage in meaningful conversations about what it means to be a mensch.

We’ll take lessons from the animals- those who are brave; kind; modest; generous.

We’ll get wild with an animal inspired art workshop and create personalized hybrid animal that exemplify the virtues we want to exhibit.
